Papusas with pico de gallo and lots and lots of Cholua

For dinner tonight I had papusas con pico de gallo y Cholua, and it was delicious! I recently stumbled upon the papusa as a culinary delight. A papusa is a Salvadoran stuffed masa flatbread which is similar to corn tortillas, only thicker and stuffed with cheese, beans, or jalapenos. Papusas originated in El Salvador, but are also popular in neighboring Honduras. I think next time I will slice up a bit of avocado on top and add Mexican crema. YUM!

The Great Cookie Swap Extravaganza

The cookie - a bite size dessert that can be so versatile and delicious. What a brilliant invention! Of course, the brain trust of Martha Stewart, takes it to the next level with the idea of celebrating the cookie through a cookie swap (http://www.marthastewart.com/photogallery/cookie-swap). Last weekend, I hosted my first ever cookie swap extravaganza and it was a smashing success! People busted out their A-game cookie recipes including: black and white iced shortbread, almond Spanish cookies called Polvorones, double chocolate, cake batter cookies, butterscotch chip, cranberry chocolate, chocolate sprinkled macaroons and oatmeal chocolate walnut. It was all amazing, but the best part was eating the leftover cookies for days! I highly recommend a cookie swap to anyone who likes cookies (who doesn't?)

Intro to Plate Cleaning 101

Welcome food lovers!

I am starting this little blog as a way to express my passion for delicious food in all its various glory and also as a way to connect with dear friends around the world who appreciate a good bite. The idea originated with my friend Amy Lou who suggested such a blog would allow me a creative outlet for posting restaurant reviews, new recipes, and general appreciation for culinary genius.

Let's just say I am VERY excited to embark on this tasty gastronomic journey!!!
